The Financial Services Commission and Financial Supervisory Service requested financial institutions to switch the operation system of ATM and CD machines which are currently operated on Window XP as Microsoft suspends its technical support of the O/S starting from April 8.
The financial authorities ordered financial firms to block internet access to ATM and CD machines using closed network and install at least one ATM or CD machine with higher version of operating system. Moreover, banks will be strictly restricted from installing unauthorized programs on ATM and CD machines.
The FSC and FSS formed emergency response teams on April 8 to consistently monitor malfunction of ATM and CD machines and minimize consequent financial damage.
Moreover, the FSC will conduct inspections on banks to check whether they are faithfully following the security measures regarding ATM and CD machines operated on Window XP.
