Insurance companies will be permitted to resume telemarketing as early as late next week after submitting their CEO’s confirmation to the FSS for approval that ensures personal data used for telemarketing is obtained legitimately from customers. The purpose of the measure is to ease financial consumer’s concern about possible financial fraud while at the same time to ensure job security of telemarketers.
General agencies and card companies will also be allowed to resume telemarketing, presumably at the end of February, as soon as the FSS confirms that personal data used for such marketing activities are legitimately obtained.
On January24, the FSC has temporarily banned financial firms from selling their products by phone, SMS or email until the end of March in order to protect financial consumers from any possible financial scam using illegally-circulated personal data.
